Actuator

How Actuator Works

The executive summary: what it does, what it costs, what can go wrong — one page, every number dated.

The Executive Summary.  Every claim here has a source-cited chapter in the Manual when you want depth — brand new to crypto, Start Here routes you.

Actuator lets you get liquidity today from your long-term HEX stake without ending it early — it turns the locked future value of your HEX into tradable HEX Time Tokens (HTTs): claims on your stake that pay out on a specific future date.

The Bottom Line

  • Three ways to use it.  Unlock cash from a HEX stake without ending it (mint HTTs and sell them), buy discounted HTTs — future HEX at a known, fixed rate in HEX terms — or buy ACTR and vault it (locked 90 days — early exit burns a penalty that starts at 100%) to earn a share of the protocol's minting fees.  Farming, by contrast, pays scheduled ACTR emissions.
  • One protocol fee.  Minting costs 1%, paid in the HTT itself — waived when nobody has vaulted ACTR against that maturity (official FAQ).  Everything else is PulseChain gas — typically well under a cent at current PLS prices — plus PulseX's 0.29% swap fee whenever you trade.  The bigger cost of unlocking cash is the market discount: the buyer's yield is the seller's price.
  • The guarantee.  1 HTT redeems for exactly 1 HEX on its redemption day, and stays 1:1 for 14 days after — an invariant Dedaub's audit formally verified (Sep 2024 report).
  • The caveat that matters.  Every number above is denominated in HEX.  If HEX falls in dollar terms, HTTs fall with it — the discount is not dollar protection.

The map on the home page and the paths on Start Here route you here; the four steps below are the whole journey in order — and they are the only moves: every one of the 42 documented strategies is a combination, timing, or sizing of these same four steps.  Buyers can skip the stake entirely: buy discounted HTTs, or buy ACTR and vault it (locked 90 days — early exit burns a penalty that starts at 100%).

1

Start With a Portable HEX Stake (an HSI)

Actuator only mints against one kind of stake: an HSI (HEX Stake Instance — a portable HEX stake), a HEX stake wrapped in its own contract — a design from the Hedron protocol — so the whole position can move: transferable, borrowable-against, usable in other protocols.  If a native stake is a sword in the rock, an HSI is that sword in a sealed envelope you can hand around.

Two ways in: stake through Actuator — created as an HSI from the start — or bring an HSI you already own (a plain native stake can't be converted; HSIs are born, not wrapped).  You then delegate the HSI to the Actuator protocol — both ways are covered in Manual Ch. 3.

Key fact: Your actual HEX never leaves the HEX contract — Actuator only controls the envelope temporarily.

2

Mint HEX Time Tokens (HTTs)

Once delegated, you can mint HTTs against the principal and accrued value inside your stake — each a claim on exactly 1 HEX on a set future day.

  • HTTs are fungible ERC-20 tokens grouped by maturity date.  Series are named by HEX day number — HTT-3000 redeems on HEX day 3000 (Feb 2028); today is day 2447.
  • You pick the maturity date when you mint (any future day where your stake has sufficient value); the docs recommend a day on or after your stake's end date — most match the two, or pick a nearby day with a liquid pool.
  • Minting charges a 1% fee, paid in HTT, to those who vaulted ACTR against that maturity date — the full flow, with checkpoints and warnings, is Manual Ch. 6.

Observation: a natural "yield curve" — near maturities usually trade at smaller discounts, distant ones deeper, because buyers wait longer for their HEX.  As of 2026-08-15, most live series trade at discounts from about 0% (2027) to about 63% (2041) — roughly 0–251% annualized in HEX terms — see the live curve table for every series.  Outstanding series mature from a few weeks out to late 2041 — though the shortest-dated series have no live pools; the tradable curve currently starts in 2027.  The long end is a 15-year zero-coupon claim, with duration risk to match.

3

Trade, Farm, or Hold Your HTTs

Now you hold liquid tokens, each redeemable for 1 HEX at maturity.  Your choices:

  • Sell them on the market — immediately tradable, but into small pools, so size matters (see What Can Hurt You).
  • Provide HTT/HEX liquidity on PulseX and deposit the LP tokens into the matching farm to earn ACTR rewards.
  • Simply hold until maturity.

Farm line-ups rotate on a fixed schedule — the shortest-dated farm retires and a new longest-dated one begins; current rates are on the app's Farms page at app.actuator.finance.  Farming and vaulting are different mechanisms, easy to confuse — the Manual covers both, with sources: farming (Ch. 10) and vaults (Ch. 11).

4

Redeem at Maturity

Redemption opens once two things happen: the maturity day arrives and the underlying stake is ended.  Then:

  • Any holder can redeem — exactly 1 HTT = 1 HEX, with no deadline: the right never expires, and once the backing stakes are ended the redemption HEX waits without decaying.  The 14-day grace window belongs to ending the stakes, and the next bullet is why that reliably happens.
  • You don't depend on the original staker: after a 3-day grace, an escalating share of the stake's final rewards goes to whoever ends it — so someone always will.
  • The original staker keeps any yield that wasn't minted against, provided the stake is ended on time.

Every HTT is backed by delegated stake value from mint through the grace window — Manual Ch. 4 explains the backing mechanics, with citations.

The appapp.actuator.finance — fully readable without connecting a wallet (guided tour)
Backing1 HTT = 1 HEX at redemption, guaranteed 1:1 for 14 days after
Fees1% protocol fee on minting only (waived if that day's vault is empty); buying or selling on PulseX pays the DEX's 0.29% swap fee; holding and redeeming cost only gas
AuditsSourceHat (security, Aug 2024) & Dedaub (security + financial, Sep 2024) — Dedaub's financial audit covers the 1:1 invariant (reports).  Commissioned by the team; HEX itself out of scope
CustodySelf-custody only — HTTs and ACTR are ERC-20 tokens in your own PulseChain wallet; no intermediary, no recovery if keys are lost.  Contracts are immutable with no admin keys
MarketsPulseX HTT/HEX pairs, plus basket pools on PHUX, another PulseChain DEX; ACTR, the protocol's reward token, also trades on PulseX
TeamTwo pseudonymous co-founders; the contracts, not the people, hold the funds — their "US LLC" claim is single-source and unverified (who controls what)

Nobody Can Change the Rules — or Hold Your Funds

The code is immutable and non-custodial: no one can seize the collateral or rewrite the rules — or patch a flaw — and your keys hold your assets at every step.  What immutability does not prevent: token-price and liquidity risk (see What Can Hurt You).  The audits below cover Actuator's contracts only — HEX and Hedron were out of scope (the caveats, in full).  On the core path — stake, mint, hold, redeem — the contract layers that matter to your funds are exactly three: HEX, your HSI (a Hedron contract), and Actuator.  Farming adds more: PulseX's pool holds your paired tokens and Actuator's farm holds your LP receipt.

Actuator's Smart Contracts — Independently Audited

  • Dedaub — security & financial audit (September 2024).  One low-severity issue, since resolved.
  • SourceHat — security audit (August 2024).  All findings resolved; passed every category.

Audits reduce — but do not eliminate — smart-contract risk.  See the full reports at docs.actuator.finance/audits.

The smart contracts are the protocol — websites are only doorways.  HEX and Actuator both publish their full app interfaces to IPFS — nothing to seize, crash, or censor — so your access to your funds never depends on any website staying up.  Mirrors are kept ready on our Frontends page.

Every claim in this box is tested against the chain on the Due Diligence page.

What Can Hurt You

  • HEX's dollar price.  Everything here is denominated in HEX.  A 30% discount does not protect you from HEX falling 50% in dollars.
  • Thin pools.  How thin?  As of 2026-08-15, every outstanding HTT combined is worth about $1023k at par, and the deepest single pool holds about $211k — a four-figure trade already moves these markets.  One structural mercy: no futures, no margin, and no borrowing exist on HTTs — thin here cannot cascade the way thin does elsewhere; it can only cost you execution (the structural case).  The working rule: a safe single swap is roughly 2% of a pool's liquidity (Manual Ch. 9).
  • Unpatchable bugs.  Two audits found nothing severe, and 10 HTT series have already matured and redeemed 1:1 on-chain (the redemption record) — but immutable means an undiscovered flaw could never be fixed, and nobody can bail you out.
  • The loan rule.  Minting HTTs whose redemption day falls before your stake's end date is a loan with a hard deadline: buy them back and retire them before their redemption day, or anyone may force an early end of your stake (Manual Ch. 6).  Pick a redemption day on or after your end date and this risk disappears.
  • The reward token.  Farm APRs are paid in ACTR, whose supply follows a fixed 3-year emission schedule — not revenue; reward tokens often trend toward zero (Manual Ch. 10).  Vaulted ACTR is also locked 90 days, and LP positions carry a small, bounded impermanent loss.

The full ledger, with mitigations: Risks and Manual Ch. 19.  Not financial advice.
